Oskaloosa First Church of the Nazarene’s new facility progressing nicely

Oskaloosa First Church of the Nazarene's new facility as it looked mid summer of 2010

The new facility that will house the Oskaloosa First Church of the Nazarene has continued to progress on the inside during the winter months. On Saturday, Church officials opened the facility to those wishing to see how work has progressed.

Oskaloosa First Church of the Nazarene has been using its gymnasium since the fire that took its main building on January 21, 2006. The day after the fire, the Church offered Rev. Dave Childers the position of Senior Pastor.

After a vote by the congregation, the Church moved on purchasing the grounds across from Wal-Mart along Gateway Drive. Since that point and time, the people of Oskaloosa have watched the building form into shape from the ground up.

The facility that will be over 50,000 square feet features the ability to use many of it’s spaces for multiple uses.

Work continues on Playland, located inside the new facility being built by Oskaloosa First Church of the Nazarene

The Children’s Area hosts an indoor/outdoor café as well as a bookstore. The children’s worship area accommodates 100+ children.

There will be check in areas and restrooms for safety reasons in close proximity in all the children’s areas, with the ability to add additional classrooms at the back of the building.

The indoor playland will be a host site for birthday parties as well.

The South Wing of the facility contains the Youth Worship Center that accommodates 100+ youth with an indoor/outdoor café and game room. Rooms will be flexible in use with accordion doors to create classroom options or other uses.

The area will also contain a catering kitchen, with an outside entrance that will serve both the youth area, three small classrooms and the large multi-ministry room.

This area of the building will also contain the staff offices. The staff offices surround the perimeter of the office complex and contain assistant work areas in the center of the complex.

The Front Entrance / Multi-Ministry Center’s lobby is designed to host wedding receptions, or other similar events. This area will also feature a hospitality / prayer chapel adjacent to the foyer.

The multi-ministry center provides 700+ worship seating and 450+ banquet table seating in the main area. This area is large enough to provide ample space for regulation volleyball and basketball courts. The platform provides for full storage under the platform. The audio / video and tech areas will be located above the foyer restrooms.

The building features only two stairways, and both access the tech booth on the upper level.
