NM Girls Compete at EBF

EDDYVILLE – North Mahaska stepped up in competition Thursday running against larger classed schools at the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont girls Rocket Relays. North Mahaska placed sixth in the seven-team competition with 54 points. Washington won the meet with 142 while host EBF was second with 134.

North Mahaska scored a one-two finish in the shot put and long jump. Sydney Andersen won the shot with a put of 33-feet 9.5-inches and Regan Grewe earned second with a throw of 31-3. Hannah Wernli won the long jump with a leap of 15-0.5 and Breckyn Schilling was second at 14-7. Wernli took second in the 100 meters in 14.24 seconds and sixth in the 100 hurdles in 18.08.

North Mahaska’s best finishes after that were fifth and sixth place finishes. Emmerson Jedlicka was fifth in the 3,000 meters in 12:50.13 and sixth in the 1,500 (6:05.58). Kayla Readshaw was fifth in the 400 in 68.67 seconds. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Wernli, Gracie DeGeest, Kieren Perez and Schilling placed fifth in 1:18.56.

North Mahaska will run at Montezuma Tuesday.
