Osky Boys Tennis Has Rough Start To Season
by Tony Witt
The Varsity Boys tennis team had a rough start to the season losing to Grinnell 1 to 10 on a cold and windy Monday. The boys did some things good but still need to work on consistency and cutting down on the unforced errors. They made a lot of easy mistakes for their first match of the season and several of them being their first varsity tennis match ever. I have a new kids and first year players this season. I am excited and looking forward to seeing how much they improve by the end of the season with how much they have learned and improved in just the two weeks of practice.
First year players and brothers Jakob(senior) and Ethan Stek(freshman) came away with the only varsity win at # 4 varsity doubles. They played smart tennis in the very tough conditions and got a solid win for their first varsity match. Cam Cassens, first year player as well is playing at #3 varsity singles played good in his loss in singles.
The Junior varsity won 7 matches to 2 with Cole VanderWal and Liam Dykstra getting a couple wins in the doubles. Grinnell had 30 kids out and we only have 17, so we got some extra matches in on Monday night.
