Montezuma Braves defeat New London
Parents night at Badger-Gabriel field where the Montezuma Braves took on New London last Friday night. Monte moves to 2-0 on the season with an earlier season win over Eddyville-Blakesburg. The Braves defense held the Tiger’s scoreless for the first 3 quarters when Braves head coach put in 9th graders for experience allowing New London some easy scores while building valuable experience for the new Braves.
Kirk Salnave lead the rushing game with 15 attempts with a total of 153 yards and 1 TD. Garrett Ogan added an additional 54 yards on 11 carries with 1 TD. Austin Battreall 31 yards 10 attempts an 2 TD’s. Kooner Johnson added an additional TD to go with his 22 yards on 5 carries.
The air game appears to have be minimal with the Braves controlling the ground so well, but Zach Gibson threw for 4 completions on 6 attempts, providing 47 yards in the air.
Montezuma takes on the BGM Bears next at BGM on the 10th at 7 pm.
