Statesmen Extend Top-25 Streak

Oskaloosa–Despite a bit of a slow start to the campaign, the William Penn men’s basketball team is hanging on in the top 25 as the NAIA released its second poll Wednesday.

WPU (6-2, 2-0 Heart), which won Wednesday night after the rating was published, fell from #13 to #25 in the country with 146 points. Narrowly hanging in there, the navy and gold have now been ranked in the top 25 for 62 consecutive polls, dating back to December 8, 2015.

William Penn is one of three Heart of America Athletic Conference programs in the top 25. Evangel is now #13, while MidAmerica Nazarene is ahead of WPU as well at #22.

Thomas More (Ky.) is the new #1 with 591 points and all 21 first-place votes. Grace (Ind.), Arizona Christian, College of Idaho, and Marian (Ind.) round out the top five.

William Penn returns to Oskaloosa Saturday to host Benedictine in Heart play at 4 p.m.
