William Penn Picked 12th in Heart

Oskaloosa–The Statesmen women’s basketball team will be looking to improve their league position as the Heart of America Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll was announced Thursday.

William Penn, which was 5-25 (5-14 Heart) last year, has been picked 12th out of 14 teams in the poll with 41 points.

Clarke is the choice to win the conference with 166 points, finishing just ahead of second-place Central Methodist which has 160 points.

MidAmerica Nazarene (134), Benedictine (131), and Missouri Valley (124) round out the top five in the poll.

Evangel (103), Grand View (98), Mount Mercy (89), Culver-Stockton (65), Baker (64), and Peru State (47) are also ranked ahead of the Statesmen, while Graceland (27) and Park (24) close out the list.

William Penn opens the campaign at home on October 29, hosting Calvary Bible at 4 p.m.
