Krause, Cotter Earn Statesmen of the Week Accolades
Oskaloosa–Men’s volleyball player Landon Krause (So., Appleton, Wis., Sports Management) and women’s wrestler Brittany Cotter (Fr., Katy, Texas, Nursing) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of January 17-23, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.
In his debut week as a Statesmen, Krause proved he will be a valuable asset for the program. Against Clarke last Wednesday, he produced five kills on a .500 hitting clip, while also managing three aces, three digs, one block assist, and one assist. Krause then added 11 kills (.192 attack %) versus Quincy, while also tallying five blocks, two aces, and one dig.
On Saturday, Krause had his biggest outing, posting 19 kills and a .432 hitting mark in an upset over #10 Saint Xavier. In the win, the sophomore completed a double-double with 14 digs, while also adding two block solos and one ace.
Cotter won both of her matches last week. She opened with a 13-8 win in WPU’s dual against Grand View on Thursday and then followed that up with a pin in the second period against her Central Methodist foe. Her victory against GVU was the only one for the Statesmen that night.
