Big Second Half Ends NM Win Streak

GLADBROOK – North Mahaska saw its seven game win streak end at undefeated Gladbrook Reinbeck Monday night. The Warhawks, ranked eighth in Class 1A, went on the road to take on the Rebels of Gladbrook-Reinbeck. The two undefeated teams battled to a 39-37 halftime score with the host Rebels in control.

In the second half G-R held the Warhawks to 12 points in each of the last two quarters while score 20 and 22 respectively to secure the win.

“They had good size and were athletic and we had trouble with them,” said NM coach Seth Streebin. “They are a good ball club and was a good team for us to face.”
Junior William Kiburus went 10-of-18 from the field for 27 points with nine rebounds and three steals to lead all scorers. Senior Tristan Sanford-Anders dropped in 23 points with seven rebounds and three steals and was perfect from the field on 9-of-9 shots.

North Mahaska had three players in double figures with 17 points from Nash Smith, 16 from Braden Steel and 13 by Lane Harmon. Steel also had 11 rebounds, three assists and blocked a shot. Nolan Andersen chipped in six points and Ethan Huffman had five.
