Question of the Week: Do you believe they should enact legislation to restrict more firearms in the wake of the Tucson trajedy?

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords

Last week we asked if you thought the debt ceiling should be raised. 75% of those responding to the non-scientific poll stated that the debt ceiling should not be raised, while 19% said yes it should be. The remaining 6% said they were unsure on the matter. Question of the Week poll is unscientific and does not necessarily reflect the views of Osky News.

The question for this week stems from the tragic shooting of Arizona Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords while at a public meet and greet at a supermarket in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday around noon.

The current debate on the subject seems to be focused on the nation’s harsh political rhetoric that has become too heated at times, by all sides of the political system, and has been at each other for years now with increasing and deepening resentment.

More restrictive gun laws were enacted in response to President Reagan’s attempted assassination by a psychotic lone gunman. The bill signed into law by President Clinton on November 30, 1993 added many restrictions to those wishing to purchase a handgun.

So the question is: Do you believe that Yes, we as a nation should restrict the purchase of these weapons; or do you believe that No, we should not punish the entire population because of the acts of a single person?

Now its your turn to decide. Vote in our online poll. The polls will be open until 9:00 pm next Sunday when we will close the poll and release the final voting numbers. If you have any questions or comments, please e-mail them to us at info@oskynews.org.
