Heinen, Guimaraes Win October POM Laurels

Oskaloosa–The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced the recipients of the October Player of the Month awards.

Freshman shotgun sports athlete Maclane Heinen (Pella, Iowa, Business Management) earned the Male award, while senior women’s golfer Alexis Guimaraes (San Ramon, Calif., Psychology) claimed the Female honor. The accolade is the first for both student-athletes.

In three tournaments, Heinen hit 786 of his 850 targets for a 92.5% clip. He was the High Overall Athlete at one tournament, while also helping William Penn to one tournament win, one dual win, and one tournament runner-up finish.

Guimaraes placed third at the first of two events with a score of 160 (80-80). She then won both of her matches at the Baker Match Play against the other teams’ #1 players. WPU won both team titles.
