Moore Named Heart Player of the Week

Oskaloosa–Lakyla Moore (Jr., Norfolk, Neb.) posted a pair of big performances last week and her efforts resulted in her earning Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week laurels Monday.

Moore won her first career accolade after guiding William Penn (1-3, 1-2 Heart) to its first victory of the season.

In two games, the junior averaged 24.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in addition to five steals and four assists. She shot 54.8% from the floor (46.7% 3-PT) and 80.0% from the free-throw line.

After an 18-point, six-rebound showing against Grand View, Moore exploded for 31 points (team season high) on 12-for-19 shooting versus Peru State.

For the season, Moore is averaging 20.0 points and 4.3 rebounds, while also producing six steals and four assists. She has connected on 53.7% of her field-goal tries (40.0% 3-PT) and 72.7% of her free throws.

The award is the first for WPU this year.
