June 8, 1930 – October 20, 2020
Oskaloosa, Iowa | Age 90
Mary Katherine “Kathy” Frush, 90, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the MHP Hospital in Oskaloosa. She was born June 8, 1930, in Taylor County, Iowa, the daughter of Eugene and Velma Amdor Sullivan.
Kathy graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1948.
Kathy was devoted to her family. The years her children were home, she spent her time caring for them and their home. Once her sons all reached school age, Kathy worked for a short time for the ISU Extension office in Oskaloosa. Last she worked in the office at Oskaloosa Senior High. She retired from there in 1992.
Kathy was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Oskaloosa and the American Legion Auxiliary. Kathy felt a great deal of respect and gratitude to veterans. She spent years volunteering at the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville. She always looked forward to going to steak night at the American Legion and seeing her friends and supporting the veterans. She always enjoyed car rides with Tony and Bonnie to Lake Keomah, especially when they ended the trip with stopping for ice cream. She was a college basketball fan and especially enjoyed cheering for Lute Olson’s Hawkeye Teams. She was also truly enthusiastic about Oskaloosa High School activities. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Her family includes her three sons: Brian Frush of Colorado, Colin Frush of Ankeny, Iowa, and Jim Frush of Salina, Kansas; three grandchildren: Josh Frush, Jami Frush, and Jesse Frush; a great granddaughter, Mackenzi Frush; her siblings: Jerry Sullivan of Oskaloosa, Margaret Konzen of Branson, Missouri, and Tom Sullivan of Keosauqua; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sister-in-laws, Virginia Sullivan, and Diane Sullivan; and a brother-in-law, Larry Konzen.
A virtual memorial service will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. on the Bates Funeral Chapel’s YouTube Channel with Reverend Troy Richmond of St. Mary’s Catholic Church officiating.
As much of the family lives in different parts of the country and it is their desire to keep everyone safe and healthy, no one will attend the ceremony in person.
As was Kathy’s wish her body has been cremated.
