Steven “Doc Brody” Davis, 55, of rural New Sharon died at his home. He was born on January 25, 1965. As a young boy he was adopted by (Thomas) Craig and Jean Elizabeth Olson Davis.

Steve graduated from North Mahaska High School with the class of 1983. While attending North Mahaska High School he was active on the football team.

Following high school he moved to Colorado. It was while living there, he took a job with Snyder Manufacturing. After some time in Colorado, he moved back to New Sharon.

On February 14, 1997, he was united in marriage to Sue Livezy. To this union a son Parker was born. Sue and Steve later divorced.

Steve worked for Snyder for over 30 years. Though his home was in New Sharon, his travel for work took him all over the country. In fact, he nearly visited every state two times over.

On June 18, 2005, Steve was united in marriage to Carol Ann Buckley.

Steve was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed traveling for work and seeing different parts of the country. Steve was a kind and gentle person. He was always welcoming new friends into his life while staying in contact with old friends along the way. He was a talented carpenter and was always willing to help with projects. He would often show up to help others without needing to be asked. He was kind and generous and many kids in the area looked up to him as a father figure.

His family includes his wife, Carol Davis; his son, Parker Davis of New Sharon; his mother, Jean Davis of Oskaloosa; a sister and her husband, Lyn and Ralph Ihde of New Sharon; step children: Lacy (& Ryan) McGriff of New Sharon, Chad Mossman of Liberty, Missouri, Brent (& Annie) Mossman of New Sharon, Jacque (& Aaron) Patterson of New Sharon, and Jamie Buckley of New Sharon; fourteen grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.

As was Steve’s wish, his body has been cremated.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held when all restrictions put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health have been lifted. Bates Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
