Marjorie Hull, 101 of New Sharon passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, October 4, 2019 at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Marjorie Glenna Hull, the daughter of Lowell and Glenna (Moffitt) Hull, was born on September 11, 1918 on the family farm two miles west of New Sharon.

Marjorie attended Round Top Country School and graduated from New Sharon High School in 1935 as the class salutatorian. She then attended business school in Des Moines and was employed there until her marriage to Raymond Hull on March 23, 1938.

They began their life together working on a farm in Mahaska County. They enjoyed working together on farms in Mahaska County and in 1949 bought their own farm in Poweshiek County. After 35 years there, they retired to New Sharon.

Marjorie always enjoyed the outdoors, working with animals and gardening. Being in the kitchen, sewing, and reading were all favorite pastimes. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were a continual source of joy.

She is survived by her children: Peggy (& Walter) Smith of New Sharon, Portia (& David) Figland of Oskaloosa, and Dan (& Barbara) Hull of Montezuma; six grandchildren: Llew (& Laura) Smith of Morton, Illinois, Damon (& Elizabeth) Smith of Tampa, Florida, Kendra (& Wesley) Roquet of Fremont, Iowa, Melissa (& Aaron) DeJong of Rochester, Minnesota, Chad Hull of St. Louis, Missouri, and Cassie (& Blake) Eno of Omaha, Nebraska; and 14 great grandchildren: Megan, Mitchell, Allison and Adam Smith of Morton, Illinois, Andrew, Katelyn and Suzanne Smith of Tampa, Florida, Lesley (& Nathan) Schneider, Kelsey Roquet and Cara Roquet of Fremont, Iowa, Madison and Caden DeJong of Rochester, Minnesota, and Niles and Simon Eno of Omaha, Nebraska. She is also survived by three step grandchildren: Angie (& Jason) Smith of Coralville, Iowa, Shane (& Holly) Scheel of Montgomery, Illinois, and Kim (& Bill) Hahn of Marion, Iowa; five step great-grandchildren: Austin and Justin Smith of Coralville, Iowa, Jacob and Madison Scheel of Montgomery, Illinois, and Dylan Hahn of Marion, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Clayworth of New Sharon; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond on March 29, 1998; three brothers: Ralph Hull, Harlan Hull and Claire Hull; and a sister, Gladys Riley.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon.
Visitation will be open to the public from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm with the family not present and continue Saturday morning with the family one hour before the service.
Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Sharon Fire and Rescue.
