Statesmen 27th in Preseason Rating

Oskaloosa–The William Penn men’s golf team will look to again be in the mix nationally as the NAIA’s preseason top-25 poll was released Friday.

WPU starts the 2019-2020 season just outside the top 25 at #27 with 48 points. The crew is second in the Heart of America Athletic Conference only to #16 Missouri Valley, while Grand View (38th) and Mount Mercy (T-43rd) join the Statesmen in the receiving votes section.

Defending national champion Texas Wesleyan is #1 with 494 points and 13 first-place votes, while Coastal Georgia, with the final five first-place nods, is second. Oklahoma City, Keiser (Fla.), and South Carolina-Beaufort round out the top five.

William Penn opens its fall campaign September 15-17 as it competes at the Indian Hills CC Warrior Challenge in Moravia.
