Alakazam Its Magic Time
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Little kids and parents alike filled up the third-floor conference room to take in a magic show by Mikayla Oz.
Oz got the bug to do magic at the age of four when a magician was performing at a public library in Des Moines. “I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.”
Oz then checked out books from the library on magic and started learning about the craft that way. Oz then used her parents as the test audience, and now she does magic full time.
“I love seeing how people react,” says Oz of her craft. “I love seeing that moment of expression from the kid’s faces and that moment of awe, and that moment of wonder.”
“I love making kids laugh, and for me, when a kid laughs, or a kid screams, because the trick is so cool, that’s what makes it all worth it.”
Oz has an interactive show, that makes things disappear, float, all with the help of her highly trained bird. “It’s a really fun show. I’ve been perfecting it for quite a while.”
The adults weren’t left out of the fun, and Oz gives them a chance to win $10,000.00 during the show.
Oz would love to see one of the young people that attended her magic show at the Oskaloosa Library carry on into adulthood with the love of magic, much like her story.
