9th Annual Style Show Entertains Local Ladies

Oskaloosa, Iowa – With the sound of dishes being placed on tables, and the buzz of the choir practicing, the 9th Annual Style Show was all set for its biggest year yet.

Every year, the Main Street organizers attempt to have something for every age group. Retired, Business, and whole entire offices of ladies join together for the luncheon.

With nearly 50 door prizes, and the Oskaloosa High School choir performing, along with the chocolate fountain, there was much to see and hear. “We really kind-of had to cut it off because it’s grown so much the last two years”, said Oskaloosa Chamber Events Coordinator Karen Hafner.

With almost 120 meals, the room where the event is held was at capacity. “It’s a great place to have it [First Christian Church] because it’s in town, and it’s handicap accessible”, and the parking for the event is easily had, Hafner stated about the location.

Style Show tables just as guest were arriving

Four local businesses had models show off their clothing lines, and the show was over by 1:00 pm. The style show is part of the week long group of events put on by the Chamber of Commerce and Main Street to help bring visitors and interest to Oskaloosa.

Jaarsma Bakery employee Shoshannah Harwell made the show part of her lunch break. I asked her if the show ended up being what she expected. “Yes, it was a lot of fun. It was my first time going, and I had a blast. I thought it was a nice idea to get people aware of the shops in Osky.
