60 Kids in K-12 Needed for “Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs”
Auditions for Missoula Children’s Theatre’s production of Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs will be on Monday, January 22nd at 4:00 p.m. at the George Daily Auditorium.
OSKALOOSA, IA — Calling all kids! Auditions for Missoula Children’s Theatre’s production of Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs will be on Monday, January 22nd at 4:00 p.m. at the George Daily Auditorium. A young princess named Snow White finds herself in peril when her stepmother is told that the princess is fairer than she! Snow White escapes and finds a new home with the Seven Dwarfs while the Queen plots to get rid of her.
“This is a unique experience in our professional season because we’ve decided that the professionals you’ll watch on stage are the children of our own community,” said Andy McGuire, Education Director of the George Daily Auditorium. “We’re saying they rate alongside the professionals from all over the country, that they’re just as important.”
The directors come to town with lights, sets, props, makeup – everything needed for a show except the actors! Approximately 60 students in kindergarten through 12th grade are needed to fill all the roles.
“Everyone should audition! It’s a wild week but there’s such a sense of accomplishment at the end,” said McGuire.
Students wishing to audition should plan to stay the entire two-hour audition session. Audition forms are available in schools, at the George Daily Auditorium, online at www.georgedaily.org, or in the lobby before the audition.
According to McGuire, to audition “Just show up on Monday afternoon! Be ready to do a little line reading, a little singing – you don’t have to prepare anything, just follow directions. It’s a group audition so everyone else will be doing the same things.”
In just a week, students will learn their lines and choreography for two performances on Saturday, January 27th.
“Rehearsals are in two hour blocks and as the week progresses, the whole cast works together until the show goes up on Saturday,” said McGuire. “It’s fast, there’s a lot going on, but it’s tons of fun.”
