47th Annual Nelson Pioneer Farm Fall Festival

The Nelson Pioneer Farm Festival is enjoyed by hundreds of people every year. The Fall Festival is September 15 this year.

Oskaloosa, Iowa- The Nelson Pioneer Farm invites you to come participate in a piece of history on Saturday, September 15. There will be fun events happening all day, starting at 9:30 in the morning and lasting until 4:30 in the afternoon.

the following is a list of events and times:

Steam Engine Tractors – 7:00 am (Trashing and baling will start once the steam engines are warmed up)

Opening Ceremony – 9:30 am

Civil War Camp – 9:30 am – 4:30 pm

Tractor Rides – 9:30 am – 4:30 pm

Field Work – 9:30 am – 4:30 pm

Craft Demonstrations – 9:30 am – 4:30 pm (found throughout the farm)

Corn Box – 9:30 am – 4:30 pm (for the kids, or the kids-at-heart)

19th Century Music – 10:00 am (New Broom)

Thrashing & Baling – 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (Will start once the steam engines are warmed up, which start up at 7:00)

Country Dinner – 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Nature Trail Tour – 11:30 am (Newly marked trees etc. and info from the 1840’s)

Hand-picking/Shucking Corn Contest – 12:00 pm (There will be 3 different entry categories: child, adult, & “celebrity”. “Celebrity includes any politician or business owner.)

19th Century Music – 12:30 pm (New Broom)

Combining/Corn Picker – 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

PARADE – 1:30 pm

Family Games – 2:15 pm

Discing/Plowing – 3:30 pm

Nature Trail Tour – 4:00 pm (Newly marked trees etc. and info from the 1840’s)
