3 vehicle crash in Monroe County

The afternoon of October 20th brought about a 3 vehicle crash on Highway 5 and 110th St.

Mitchell Chance was traveling North on Highway 5 when he didn’t notice a car waiting to make a turn onto 110th Street. While on the brakes and swerving to the left, 33 year old Chance’s 2005 Buick hit the rear of 2007 Cadillac driven by 88 year old John Elliott of Mead Colorado.

Chance’s car then clipped another car driven by 44 year old Steven Castaner of Warrensburg, Missouri. His 2011 Hyundai was struck right behind the drivers door causing him to loose control and ending up in the opposite ditch of Chance and Elliott.

Chance was cited for failure to stop withing the assured clear distance. Elliott was transported to Albia Hospital by ambulance.
