Yvonne Reeves, 95, of Oskaloosa, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was born on April 29, 1925 in Letts, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Blanche (Lamb) Plowman.
Yvonne attended high school in Benson, Nebraska.
On April 20, 1946, she was united in marriage to John W. Reeves. Yvonne and John adopted 2 children into their lives, Jonathon and Catherine. Yvonne and John shared over 63 years of marriage until John passed away on May 19, 2009.
During World War II, Yvonne worked in a bomber plant as a riveter on B-25 and B26’s before working in the blue-print room. After the war, she moved to Centerville, Iowa, and worked at Percy Norris’s Garage in the parts department. Later she worked at H.J. Heinz and J.C. Penney’s in Muscatine, Iowa. Yvonne earned her G.E.D and worked as a secretary for the Baptist Church in Huntington. Lastly, she worked for a wholesale flower shop.
Yvonne moved to Oskaloosa in 1989 and was a member of the After 5 Club, Harrison Homemakers and the Hillside Bible Church where she played piano. Yvonne enjoyed painting, china painting and sewing.
Her family includes her two children, Jonathan (& Priscilla) Reeves of Muncie, Indiana and Catherine Roberts of Oskaloosa, Iowa; two grandchildren, Jason Dunfee and Michael (& Allayana) Dunfee; seven great grandchildren; her siblings: Barbara (& John) Schultheiss, Nancy (& Willis) Veldhuizen, Kathy Plowman, Gale (& Juliette) Plowman, Raymond (& Carolyn) Plowman and Linda (& Claire) Thoreson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Reeves; her parents, Glen and Blanche Plowman; her siblings, Ruth Brown, Glen Plowman, Richard Plowman, Marilyn Barfield and Dale Plowman.
As was Yonne’s wish her body has been cremated and a Graveside service will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 4:00 in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
For those wanting to attend, a processional will leave the Bates Funeral Chapel at 3:30 PM. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
