WPU Begins Year Receiving Votes
Oskaloosa–The Statesmen women’s basketball team expects to be in the mix all year long and the national raters are in agreement as the NAIA Division II preseason rating was released today.
William Penn (1-0), which was 19-10 last year, is unofficially 41st in the nation with three points.
Defending national champion Indiana Wesleyan tops the rating with 343 points and all 13 first-place votes. Davenport (Mich.), Morningside, St. Francis (Ind.), and Concordia (Neb.) round out the top five.
Fellow Midwest Collegiate Conference programs Grand View (#17) and St. Ambrose (#25) are also in the poll.
In addition to GVU and SAU, William Penn will also face several other highly-ranked teams, including Morningside, #12 Briar Cliff, #23 St. Mary (Neb.), #33 Valley City State (N.D.), and #38 Friends (Kan.).
William Penn returns to action Friday for its home opener against Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) at 7:30 p.m.
