WPU 15th at Columbia 300 Western Shootout

Indianapolis, Ind.–The Statesmen women’s bowling team captured another finish in the top half as it competed at the Columbia 300 Western Shootout Saturday and Sunday.
William Penn finished 15th out of 34 teams with 7,680 pins in six regular games and 15 Baker games. St. Francis (Ill.) won the tournament with 8,595 pins; the Saints also had the top two individuals as Nicole Troha won the event with a 213.2 average.
Nicole Mottier (Fr., Madison, Wis., Computer Science) was the best bowler for the navy and gold, averaging 182.0 pins in six games. Bailey Palmer (So., Ottumwa, Iowa, Undecided) also started all six games and managed a 175.0 clip.
Amber Ovel (Jr., Waterloo, Iowa, Business Management) tallied a 168.6 mark in five games, while Audra Farley (Sr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Education) produced a 161.3 average in four starts.
Abbey Fangman (Fr., Waterloo, Iowa, Elementary Education) was next at 172.3 (three games); Kayla Gifford (So., Camanche, Iowa, Biology) matched Fangman with three starts (165.3 average).
Kaylee Gerken (Jr., Dubuque, Iowa, Elementary Education), with a 163.5 clip in two games, and Nicole Craft (So., Wakefield, Neb., Physical Education), with 184 pins in one game, also competed for the Statesmen.
Next Up: William Penn is off for two weeks, next traveling to Moline, Ill. November 11-12 to compete in the ISYL Leatherneck Classic.
