William “Clarence” Rozendaal, 90, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. He was born December 31, 1931, in Pella, Iowa, the son of Fred and Corlena Van Hemert Rozendaal.

Clarence attended Sand Ridge Country School. Following school, he helped his dad on the family farm north of Sully.

In 1952, Clarence was drafted into the United States Army and was inducted into the Army in October of 1952. He served in the Signal Corps and taught Morse Code. He was discharged as a Corporal from the Army in September of 1954.

Upon his discharge, Clarence returned to Pella and worked for a plumber for a short time. He later went to work for Vermeer.

On July 2, 1955, Clarence was united in marriage to Darlene Bieshaar. To this union four children were born, Dave, Dan, Steve, and Suzanne.

Following their marriage, they moved back to the farm north of Sully and Clarence farmed the farm for himself. In 1960, the family moved west of Oskaloosa and Clarence went to work at Binns and Stevens in addition to farming part-time. In 1965, they moved to Barnes City and farmed there until 1996.

On June 15, 1991, Clarence was united in marriage to Linda Bingaman at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. In 1996, they moved into Oskaloosa and Clarence worked for Doc Spain helping him with odd jobs. Clarence and Linda also sorted seed corn at Pioneer for ten years.

Clarence was a member of the Central Church (formerly Central Reformed Church) where he served as an elder and deacon and was active with Heart-to-Heart Ministries at church. He enjoyed traveling and especially looked forward to winters at Bible Ville, Texas. He also enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying nice days, traveling, tinkering in the garage, listening to gospel music, traveling the back roads, watching All Star Wrestling and coffeetime at McDonalds. He looked forward to attending school functions when his children and grandchildren were participating and volunteering his time to drive veterans to their appointments.

His family includes his wife of over 31 years, Linda Rozendaal of Oskaloosa; four children: Suzanne (& Henry) Anderson, David (& Kim) Rozendaal, Dan (& Mary) Rozendaal and Steve (& Michelle) Rozendaal; a step daughter, Lori Seaton of Oskaloosa; his grandchildren: Mandi Sumila, Kelsie (& Jessie) Rozendaal, Joe (& Chelsie) Rozendaal, Alyson (& Andrew) Bishop, Cassie (& CJ) Miller, Zach (& Ana) Rozendaal, Adam Rozendaal, Jaime (& Nathan) Hellman, Logan (& Josh) Jordan, Kenzie (& Jordan) Bahl and Taylor (& Mason) Walter, Isaac Anderson, Levi Anderson, Lucus Anderson, and Emma Anderson; great-grandchildren: Avery Sumila, Rylee Rozendaal, Lydia Rozendaal, Peyton Rozendaal, Jaycie Miller, Wade Miller, Valerie Rozendaal, Henry Rozendaal, Dane Hellman, Jaylia Hellman, Phoenix Jordan, Marcelin Jordan and Delilah Bahl. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Rodney Seaton and 3 sisters, Alma Veldhuizen, Luella Berglund and one in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Central Church (formerly Central Reformed Church) in Oskaloosa with Pastor Marvin Knoot officiating.
There will be a family prayer service at 9:45 in the East Lounge of the Church.
Graveside Military Honors will be given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin after 2:00 p.m. on September 30, in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5:00-7:00 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to Central Church.
