William Penn Looking to Surprise on Women’s Side
Oskaloosa–The Statesmen women’s cross country squad will hope to be the darkest of darkhorses this fall as the Midwest Collegiate Conference preseason coaches’ poll was released today.
William Penn is sixth in the six-team conference by garnering seven points. The squad surpassed Clarke at last year’s Championships with help from national qualifier Valinn McReynolds.
Defending champion St. Ambrose earned all six first-place votes for a total tally of 60 points.
Mount Mercy is a solid third with 36 points, while Clarke (19) and Viterbo (16) are vying for fourth.
William Penn begins its fall season by traveling to Cedar Rapids on August 30 for the Mount Mercy Mustang Gallop. The Statesmen will compete in six regular season meets before the MCC Championships on November 9.
