William Penn Bowling Teams Ranked in NAIA Polls
Statesmen Ranked Eighth in NAIA
Oskaloosa–The Penn men’s bowling team has obviously had a very strong season, but another indication it is doing well came recently with the program ranked in the NAIA’s second national poll.
As an emerging sport that is not yet fully sponsored by the NAIA, bowling is flying under the radar but its members still want to recognize their teams in a ranking.
Penn sits in eighth position in the top-ten poll with 116 points, while Webber International (Fla.) is first with 464 points and nine of the 12 first-place votes. Robert Morris (Ill.) and Lindenwood (Mo.) are second and third, respectively, but has Robert Morris has just one first-place vote compared to two for Lindenwood.
Calumet-St. Joseph (Ind.) and McKendree (Ill.) round out the top five, while Notre Dame (Ohio), Pikeville (Ky.), Martin Methodist (Tenn.), and Davenport (Mich.) are also in the top ten.
Fellow Midwest Collegiate Conference squads St. Ambrose and Viterbo are also receiving votes.
Sean Rangel (So., Omaha, Neb., Bellevue East HS) leads the Statesmen into this weekend’s USBC Intercollegiate Team Sectionals. Penn is currently ranked #26 in collegebowling.com’s poll.

Oskaloosa–The Lady Statesmen bowling team continues to be grouped among the best teams in the nation as the NAIA’s second national poll was released.
As an emerging sport that is not yet fully sponsored by the NAIA, bowling is flying under the radar but its members still want to recognize their teams in a ranking.
Penn is unofficially 11th (points not announced), while McKendree (Ill.) is first with 472 points and ten of the 12 first-place votes. Lindenwood (Mo.) and Robert Morris (Ill.) are second and third, respectively, with both having one first-place vote.
Webber International (Fla.) and Pikeville (Ky.) round out the top five, while Midland (Neb.), Davenport (Mich.), Calumet-St. Joseph (Ind.), Marian (Ind.), and Notre Dame (Ohio) are also in the top ten.
