Kids of all ages took part in the Bank Iowa/William Penn Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday morning on the William Penn University Campus.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Both Bank Iowa and William Penn have been holding separate Easter Egg hunts for years. A quick conversation had both places joining together to create an egg hunt for the ages.

On Saturday morning, over 6000 Easter Eggs were cleaned up by hundreds of kids in under two minutes on the grounds in front of Penn Hall on the campus of William Penn University.

Some of the eggs held slips of paper that indicated a prize had been won, and the staff from Bank Iowa helped to make the process of claiming those prizes run smoothly.

Also helping was 4-H groups and the William Penn Student-Athletes. They assisted kids during the hunt, as well as cleaned up the areas afterward.

James Feudner with Bank Iowa added, “It was a great time. We were worried if we would have a good turnout by merging both of them. I think it was great. I’m guessing we had a few hundred people out here.”

Feudner added that he thought combining the two hunts would allow the community to get involved with the university, and have more help to make it happen in the process.

“It takes two hours to set everything up, and then it’s over in about 10 or 15 minutes,” added Feudner of the hunt.

When it comes to continuing the partnership with William Penn, Fuedner said, “I think we’re going to continue doing this. As long as William Penn’s excited about it too, we’ll keep doing it.”

“I think everything went really great,” said Fuedner of Saturday morning’s event.

William Penn University’s Nik Rule spoke about how the partnership started when Bank Iowa approached the university after they had both been running separate hunts. “Their leadership team talked to me and said hey, what do you think. Let’s make this thing happen.”

“We’re just happy that the event came together well. This is an incredible turnout. We’re thinking somewhere in the range of six to seven thousand eggs, maybe even more, and hundreds of kids out here,” added Rule of the massive egg hunt.

“Combining forces in front of Penn Hall on an absolutely beautiful day. Penn Hall is beautiful in the spring. It just seemed to be the perfect event,” said Rule.

“Really a group team effort, a community effort between William Penn and Bank Iowa. Really a positive thing,” Rule said in closing.
