Addison, Ill.–The Statesmen women’s bowling team found the competition quite tough as it battled at the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic Saturday and Sunday.
William Penn placed 30th out of 51 teams with 7,636 pins in five regular games and 20 Bakers. Wichita State (Kan.) won the tournament with 9,067 pins.
Emily Eckhoff of Hastings (Neb.) was the top roller with a 215.8 average, while Stephanie Adams (Jr., Souris, Manitoba, Business Management) sparked WPU’s action with a 180.2 average.
Montana Pence (Sr., Stronghurst, Ill., Elementary Education) also started all five games with a 167.4 mark.
Four games were started by both Briell Newberry (So., Holland, Mich., Secondary Education) (164.0 average) and Audra Farley (So., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Education) (128.4 average). Cheyanne Starr (Fr., Ottumwa, Iowa, Psychology), at 174.4, and Amber Ovel (Fr., Waterloo, Iowa, Business Management), at 152.0, started two games each.
MacKenzie Boyd (Jr., Knoxville, Iowa, Human Services/Sociology) knocked down 148 pins in her lone game and Cybil Lennie (So., Ottumwa, Iowa, Undecided) managed 121 pins in her only round.
Next Up: William Penn takes more than a month off before traveling to Indianapolis, Ind. on February 20-21 to compete in the Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic.
