Wartburg College Castle Singers To Perform Friday Night

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Music enthusiasts will be treated to a one night only performance from one of the top college choirs in Iowa on Friday night February 8th.

The Wartburg College Castle Singers, as well as The Wartburg Kammerstreicher Chamber String Orchestra, perform at the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa at 7:30 pm.

The Wartburg College Castle Singers have been hailed as a model of musicianship since their inception in 1950 and most recently garnered a reputation for its performances of vocal jazz arrangements. They tour the United States annually and travel overseas every three years.

The choir carries a local flavor, as 2015 Oskaloosa High School graduate Amber Brockman, a Wartburg Senior, is a proud three-year member of the choir. In addition to the Wartburg choir and orchestra, the Oskaloosa High School Chamber Choir and Chamber Orchestra will also be featured.

For Brockman, this will be her first performance in Oskaloosa since graduating in 2015. Brockman said in her time at Wartburg she’s been fortunate to perform all around the country and was part of their last overseas tour in the Summer of 2018 that included performances in Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and Holland. She is extremely excited to come home and be able to share her love of music with her hometown community and looks forward to collaborating with her former high school choir and orchestra and seeing familiar faces. Attendees can expect to hear a variety of genres of music, ranging from Madrigals to American Folksong tunes, to music from the Greatest Showman, along with a variety of musical selection.

The concert begins at 7:30 pm Friday night at the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa. Freewill donations will be accepted to support scholarships and future tours for the Wartburg College Music programs.
