NJCAA DI MEN’S BASKETBALL POLL – WEEK 14
Ottumwa, IA – Following a signature victory at the Hellyer Center on Saturday night, the Indian Hills Men’s Basketball team jumped to No. 3 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DI Men’s Basketball poll, announced Monday afternoon. The Warriors earned 311 points from the voting committee.
The Warriors knocked off then-No. 3 Triton College (IL) to close out its regular season campaign on Saturday. Indian Hills upended the Trojans 85-72 at the Hellyer Center, avenging an previous loss to Triton on February 12. The victory snapped a 20-game winning streak for the Trojans as the Warriors improved to 24-5 overall on the year.
With the win over Triton, the Warriors have now secured seven wins over nationally ranked opponents this year. Indian Hills is one of just 14 teams in the country to have at least 21 victories over NJCAA DI programs on the year.
The Warriors have now been ranked inside the top-10 of the national poll in each of the 14 regular season rankings this year, including five weeks inside the top-three.
Snow College (UT) maintained its spot at No. 1 in the national rankings followed by Trinity Valley Community College (TX). Jones College (MS) and Cowley College (KS) rounded out the top-five. Triton dropped to No. 7 following its loss to Indian Hills on Saturday.
Indian Hills will now head into postseason play with the upcoming National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11 Championship game March 8 at the Hellyer Center. The Warriors will take on the winner of Southeastern Community College and Marshalltown who will match up in Burlington on March 5.
