Oskaloosa–Elise Warne (Fr., Melbourne, Australia, Exercise Science) was rewarded for guiding the William Penn women’s golf team to a big fall finish as she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week Monday.

Warne locked up her first weekly accolade by shooting a 150 (77-73) to tie for 17th out of 59 players. The Statesmen placed sixth out of 10 teams at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic; the event featured eight teams ranked in NAIA and NJCAA.

WPU’s second-round score tied a school record, while Warne’s 18-hole tally on Sunday was a career best. For the year, the freshman owns an 80.9 stroke average over 12 rounds, including four rounds in the 70s.

The award is the third of the year for the program.
