Warmer temps for the next 2 days

Warmer temps make it easier to clean up those stubborn area's on your sidewalks and driveways

Iowa is known for it’s wait a minute the weather will change life style. Tomorrow and Friday will be no different with highs expected in the mid forties.

It sure does help those that want to clean up their drives of extra snow and ice from our previous snowfalls, but it will lead to some dense fog. The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for our area until 6 pm on Thursday.

They released the following information for Mahaska County.
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A DENSE FOG
ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THURSDAY.

* VISIBILITY…AREAS OF DENSE FOG ARE EXPECTED FROM THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY. VISIBILITIES BELOW ONE QUARTER OF
A MILE WILL BE COMMON ACROSS CENTRAL IOWA DURING THIS TIME AS
RELATIVELY WARM MOIST AIR MOVES UP ACROSS THE SNOW PACK IN IOWA.
VISIBILITIES WILL NOT ALWAYS BE BELOW ONE QUARTER OF A MILE AND
SOME IMPROVEMENT MAY OCCUR FROM TIME TO TIME. HOWEVER…MOST
LOCATIONS WILL SEE VISIBILITIES RESTRICTED FOR MUCH OF THE TIME
BELOW ONE QUARTER OF A MILE UNTIL A FRONT MOVES ACROSS THE STATE
LATE ON THURSDAY.

* IMPACTS…THE FOG MAY DEPOSIT A THIN COATING OF ICE ON EXPOSED
SURFACES…MAINLY IN NORTHERN IOWA WHERE TEMPERATURES WILL BE
BELOW FREEZING UNTIL LATER THIS AFTERNOON. BY THIS
EVENING…MOST LOCATIONS WILL BE ABOVE FREEZING AND THE THREAT
FOR SLICK ROADS WILL DIMINISH.

A cool down comes Friday night with the lows in the single digits and New Years Day being windy with a high of 20 degrees.
