Walter Arnold, 67, of Delta, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the Keokuk County Health Center. Walter John Arnold was born March 22, 1955 in North Platte, Nebraska, the son of Donald and Ruby Raleigh Arnold.
Walter was a 1973 graduate of North Platte High School, then later in 1975 he received his degree in diesel mechanic technology from Mid Plains Community College.
On August 19, 1988 he was united in marriage to Deborah Lang in Rifle, Colorado.
His working career included Hershey Truck Stop, Sears, Village Inn, Eagle Valley High School, Wal-Mart, and most recently the Sigourney Public Library.
Walter was an avid Nebraska Corn Huskers and Kansas City Chiefs fan. In his early years, he enjoyed bowling where he joined several leagues in North Platte, Nebraska and Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Walter never missed an opportunity to go fishing, picnicking, camping, or traveling around in the mountains. He also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, Sudoku puzzles, and a lot of reading.
Walter is survived by his wife, Deborah Arnold; two sons: Brandon (& Terresa) Playle, and Jesse (& Christy) Playle; a daughter, Lela (& Bryan) Weigert; three brothers, Donald (& Michelle) Arnold, Orville (& Pam) Arnold, and Sonny (& Ophelia) Carier; three sisters: Patty Dillon, Nancy (& Dennis) Hoskins, and Margie. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Michael, Skyonna, Morgan and Daniella, Bishop, Gauge, Cheyenne, Ava, Izac, Xac, and Alize.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kathy Arnold; a grandson, Arlo Stevens.
A memorial gathering and visitation will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Delta Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
