Virginia “Ginny” Louise Rexroth, 89, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and formerly of University Park, Iowa, died Monday, December 28, 2015, at the John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit. She was born April 25, 1926, in Maywood, Illinois, the daughter of George and Helen Heideloff Carlson.

Ginny graduated from Proviso High School in 1945. After high school, Ginny attended Olivet Nazarene College. Following college, she worked in Chicago for Western Adjustment and Inspection Co.

On April 16, 1949, she was united in marriage to Lewis Rexroth and moved to Waterloo, Iowa; they settled in University Park three years later.

Ginny worked at the Mahaska County Auditor’s and Treasurer’s office from 1976 until 1990, retiring from the County in 2006. Her husband Lewis passed away in August of 2001. Ginny moved to John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, MO in 2006, to live safely and enjoy the rest of her days in a comprehensive retirement community, where Dan works.

Ginny will be remembered for her passionate commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and her love of people. She served the Church of the Nazarene in many capacities, teaching children, singing in the choir and as a board member. She has been a member of the Oskaloosa First Church of the Nazarene since 1952. She received the Distinguished Service Award from the Church of the Nazarene.

Ginny is survived by her three children: Virginia Beth (& Roger) Williams of Naples, Florida; David (& Julie) Rexroth of Grand Blanc, Michigan; Dr. Daniel (& JoAnne) Rexroth of Lenexa, Kansas; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Lewis, Ginny was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Edward Carlson; her granddaughter, Debbie Hill; and her great granddaughter, Madison Rexroth.

Funeral services for Ginny will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Bill Hines officiating.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
Burial will be in the University Park Cemetery. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to John Knox Village/Hospice.

The family wishes to thank the Hospice staff at John Knox Village for the exceptional care they provided.
