Vicki Jack, 72 of Montezuma passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center under hospice care. Vicki Faye Downey Jack, the daughter of Keith and Dorothy (Gross) Downey, was born on January 4, 1945 in Grinnell, Iowa.
Vicki graduated from Grinnell High School. On February 15, 1964, Vicki was united in marriage to Keith Jack. To this union three children were born: Tracy, Scott and Kimberlea.
Vicki was a stay at home wife and mother, which carried on to the next generation of children as she babysat for her two eldest granddaughters. In 2001, she began working in the cafeteria at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Co. where she made many friends.
Vicki loved mowing the yard and relaxing under the crab apple tree afterwards. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and watching TLC with her dog Chico sitting on her lap. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making big meals for her family. Vicki was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending her time with her family and attending all her grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. She also enjoyed shopping with her daughters which always included eating out.
Her memory will be cherished by her husband of 52 years, Keith Jack of Montezuma; three children: Tracy (& Bob) Stevens of Montezuma, Scott (& Deborah) Jack of Grinnell and Kimberlea (& Brent) Harvey of Adkins; seven grandchildren: Niccole Stevens, Mitchell Stevens, Shauna Jack, Lex Jack, Wyatt Jack, Vicktoria Harvey and Alyse Harvey; and Vicki is expecting her first great grandchild in June of 2017. She is also survived by two brothers: Chuck (& Jeana) Downey and Gary (& Becky) Downey; three sisters: Becky (& Dennis) Wilson, Mary (& Reggy) Wells and Patsy (& Fred) Ederer; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Vicki is preceded in death by her parents, Keith & Dorothy Downey; and parents-in-law, Wilbur & Abbie Jack.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Community Hope Church in Montezuma.
Burial will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.
Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Monday, January 23, 2017 with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Community Hope Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
