Vera Arlene Hults, 95, of Ottumwa and formerly of Fremont, died Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Vista Woods in Ottumwa. Vera was born Tuesday, July 11, 1922, near Farson in Wapello County, the daughter of Roscoe C. and Edith F. Jackson Knott.
Vera graduated from Martinsburg High School with the Class of 1941. On October 18, 1941, Vera was united in marriage to Charles J. Hults, Charles died December 7, 2002.
Vera was a hard-working farm wife her whole life. She also worked as a C.N.A. at Ottumwa Hospital for 17 years.
She was a member of Fremont Baptist Church, Sew & So Club and Chat A While Club. She enjoyed square dancing and playing cards. Vera cherished her family most of all.
She is survived by two daughters: Connie Reynolds (& Mike Mathison) of Chandler, Arizona and Crystal (& Robert) Randell of Oskaloosa; 9 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Bonnett of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters: Charlene Woodard and Carol Hufferd; a brother, Dale Knott; and a sister, Dorothy Beck.
As was her wish, Vera’s body has been cremated.
No visitation is planned at this time.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties or to Vista Woods Care Center in Ottumwa.
