Velma “Louise” Kosmach, age 82, of Albia, IA, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the Monroe Care Center in Albia. Louise was born December 4, 1938, to Jess and Icle (Moss) Carter.

Louise attended school in Albia, graduating from the Albia High School with the Class of 1957, and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Louise married Joe Kosmach on August 9, 1957.

Louise was a farm wife and also worked at Chicago Rivet. She retired from Chicago Rivet in 2006 after working there for 28 years.

Louise enjoyed cooking, reading, playing piano, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Avery United Methodist Church where she was the pianist and also taught Sunday school for many years.

Louise is survived by her husband, Joe; her daughter, Kathryn; her son, Steven; two sons-in-law, Kendall and Scott; two granddaughters, Sarah (& Aaron) and Holly (& Rob); two great granddaughters, Madison and Sidney; and one great grandson, Jacob.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Icle Carter; and five siblings.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Louise’s family present from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. to greet family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2021, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastors Dennis and Teresa Miller officiating.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Memorials have been established to the Avery United Methodist Church and the Albia Public Library.
