Van Veldhuizen Leads Indians Against Grinnell

The 7th grade volleyball team traveled to Grinnell last night.

The A and B team went 4 for 6 Monday night in our game against Grinnell. The A team made improvements already from last week, but fell 1-3. We dominated with our serves with Lydia VanVeldhuizen leading the team with 11 aces and Bailee Smith following with 9 aces. Addie McKain had 6 aces, Camryn Schultz with 4 aces, Ellie Voss and Kassie Johnson each with 1 ace.

The B team came out ready to play and won all 3 of their games: 25-18, 25-19, and 25-21. Kelcey Alderson led the team with 14 aces, Hannah Quang with 13 aces, Olyvia Swanson and Kylie Davis each with 4 aces and Reece Milburn-VanWyk with 2 aces. Great job girls!

The C and D team would win 5 of 6 games. The C team would move their record to 3-1 with a sweep of the Tigers with scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 30-28. The girls did an awesome job in the final game in coming back and winning the last set for the sweep. The team was led in aces by Hayley VanArkel with 9 followed by Maci Huebschen with 5, Mia Shillings with 4, Zoie Biddle and Carley VanHemert with 2 each and Kaylee Haugen and Emma Adams with 1 a piece.

The D team would move their record to 2-2 with a 2-1 win. The scores were 25-17, 25-27, and 25-18. The team did a great job coming out and winning the last set for the victory. The team was led by Grace Glover with 10 aces followed by Kaleigh Braden with 6 and Brianna Davis and Lilly Heckenberg with 2 each.

The girls are off the rest of the week before playing at home next Tuesday against Norwalk. Game time is 4:30.
