USS HONOLULU TOPIC OF NEXT HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING
The next quarterly meeting and potluck will be held in Bradbury Hall on Monday, May 20, at 6:30 p.m.
Don Paustian of Toledo, Iowa, will give a presentation on “World War II in the South Pacific Onboard the USS Honolulu CL48.” Follow the life of a decorated light cruiser from her launching through the attack on Pearl Harbor and the battles to regain control of several South Pacific islands, to her being sold for scrap after the war ended. Don’s father served aboard the Honolulu, and Don has assembled pages of historical data, photos, and shells and projectiles of every size and type ever fired from the ship.
The program is free and open to the public. Bring a dish to share and your own tableware.
