GRINNELL — On your mark. Get set. Basketball.

Tuesday night featured a match-up between the Central College men’s basketball team and Grinnell College, two teams that like to push the pace with Grinnell (4-0) outgunning Central 119-93 for a home victory.

Central (0-3) had a season-high six players in double figures led by freshman forward Caden Mauck (Lee’s Summit, Mo., Blue Springs South HS) after a career-high 16-point performance.

“Caden had a nice game and did a nice job finishing,” said coach Craig Douma.

Sophomore forward Seth Wood (Branson, Mo.) had 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting.

The Dutch were turned over 31 times which led to 46 Pioneer points. Central is the only team to outrebound Grinnell on the season, winning the battle on the glass 55-43.

Sophomore forward Jaden Moody (Cambridge, Ballard HS) had 14 points and collected six rebounds and senior forward Malik Wildermuth (Normal, Ill., University HS) had 10 points and nine rebounds.

“Grinnell played well tonight and they are a tough match-up for us because of their unique style of play,” said Douma. “I thought Adam Flinn (freshman, Wildwood, Mo., Lafayette, HS) played really well. He gave us 19 minutes and had just one turnover against their pressure.”

Central hosts Gustavus Adolphus Saturday at 3 p.m. at P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium.
