Turkey Hunting & Safety Seminar
The Mahaska County Conservation Board is hosting a Turkey Hunting & Safety Seminar on Saturday, March 23rd from 10:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the conservation center located at the Russell Wildlife Area. This seminar is offered to help turkey hunters of all skill levels learn about turkey biology, turkey hunting laws and ethics, preparing for the hunt, calling, hunting techniques, field dressing and taxidermy. Guest speakers include Mike Ryan, Iowa DNR Conservation Officer and M.D. and Julie Johnson, authors of Successful Turkey Hunting. Marc Phelps, taxidermist from Nature Tracks Taxidermy in South Amana, IA will provide information about taxidermy.
There is no cost for this seminar. Participants must pre-register online at www.iowadnr.gov/training. Seating is limited, so sign up right away. Each pre-registered participant will receive a door prize. Lunch will be provided by the Mahaska Fan Club chapter of NWTF on a free-will donation basis.
