Troop 71 Merit Badge Conclave
Troop 71 will be hosting their annual merit badge conclave Saturday March 18, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. 43 troops from across Iowa and Illinois will travel to Oskaloosa and meet at the Central United Methodist Church. 225 Scouts and 60 Adult leaders will attend courses spread throughout the community. Local Volunteers will server lunch and teach 26 merit badges throughout the day. Merit Badges is part of scouting to increase skills and challenge scouts to try new activities that may spark a hobby or lead to a new career path in the future. A Boy Scout must earn 21 merit badges and many other requirements to earn the Eagle Scout rank.
