Tickets Available for Mahaska Hospice Auxiliary’s

MHP Hospice Serenity House

“Share the Love” Fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 9

MAHASKA COUNTY – Last year, more than 300 people attended “Share the Love – An Evening for Hospice,” raising more than $51,000. This year, the Mahaska Hospice Auxiliary is working hard to increase that amount with the ultimate goal of helping keep hospice services available for future generations.

“We believe strongly in the hospice philosophy and want to do all we can to assure that this vital service has a sustained future in our community,” said Share the Love Co-Chair Amber Coffey. “We invite all supporters of hospice to join us for a fun evening to benefit a great cause.”

Tickets for the event are $50 each or $500 for a table of eight. Proceeds benefit the Mahaska Hospice Serenity House, located on the Mahaska Health campus. Opened in 2010, the Serenity House has served more than 650 patients and their friends and family members. It is a home away from home, allowing family a time of togetherness while their loved one facing end-of-life is cared for by compassionate and dedicated staff and volunteers.

To accommodate more attendees to this year’s event, Share the Love Co-chair Amanda Doud said it has been moved to Center Court at Penn Central Mall. “The evening will feature a delicious dinner catered by Thelma’s Cater 2 U and entertainment by Piano Palooza out of Des Moines,” Doud said.

“The committee is wrapping up collecting silent auction and raffle items and are very pleased and grateful for the generosity of businesses and individuals throughout the region,’ Doud explained. “Bring your checkbooks for some great silent auction and raffle items.”

According to Coffey, a few of the many items available for the silent auction include: three beautiful antique furniture pieces, refurbished by Kathy Pleima; Iowa and Iowa State gift baskets valued at over $400 and canopy tents for Iowa, Iowa State and Oskaloosa, donated by Mahaska Drug; a bench by Clow Valve; handcrafted wooden clock and bench, made by Dr. Tim Breon; a certificate for a penthouse suite for four from McNeil Stone Mansion Bed and Breakfast; $250 gift card from Bruxvoort’s Decorating; and much more.

“We have a wide variety of silent auction and raffle items available, including many gift cards to local businesses, so there is truly something for everyone,” Coffey stressed.

A gorgeous ruby and diamond ring, valued at $1,000, is part of a special raffle sponsored by Gardner-Collier Jewelry, located in Penn Central Mall. Tickets for your chance to win this 14K Yellow Gold ring can be purchased at Garner-Collier Jewelry or from any Hospice Auxiliary Board Member. The winner will be drawn at the event, and you need not be present to win.
