The Oskaloosa Music Festival (OMF) is gearing up for its eighth year of show-stopping classical music from May 31st through June 9th. OMF brings two back-to-back weeks of music performance and education to the city of Oskaloosa.

The first week, “Mahaska Masterworks,” (May 31st – June 3) brings professional string players from across the country to Oskaloosa where they will perform lunch time picnic concerts, educational presentations with the summer lunch program and YMCA, a concert at Crystal Heights Care Center, a jam session at Smokey Row, and a masterworks recital at the First Presbyterian Church complete with a community wide side-by-side to cap off the week. There is something for everyone to enjoy in this peformance-packed week!

The second week, the “String Chamber Music Camp,” (June 5 – June 9) offers an opportunity to students from across the region to work directly with Lux String Quartet (Appointed 2015-16 Classical MPR Class-Notes Artist) in an intensive day camp. Participants from Oskaloosa, Pella, and Ottumwa will work with Lux in small ensembles, a string orchestra, receive private lessons, participate in enrichment classes and give public performances throughout the week.
