Indians Have Successful Week On The Road

The Oskaloosa Girls Swim team had a busy week with back to back meets on Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday, the Indians traveled to Williamsburg where many of the girls swam in events they don’t typically compete in. Three girls set PR’s in the 200 Individual medley, Bre Engelhardt took: 10 seconds off her best time, Makenzie Hicks shaved: 09 seconds off her previous best and Sydney Slocum improved by 07 seconds. Two girls set PR’s in the 50 Freestyle. Maddy Moorman and Macy Braden took: 03 and: 04 seconds off their previous best. Hicks shaved another: 07 seconds off her 500 freestyle time and two girls improved their times in the 100 backstrokes. Slocum dropped by 09 seconds, and Ashlee Smith improved by 05 seconds.

Tuesday the girls swam at Newton. Five girls, Sophia Dykstra, Makenzie Hicks, Maddy Moorman, Bre Engelhardt, and Shannon Linder dropped as much as 05 seconds off their times in the 100 Freestyle. Sydney Slocum set a PR in the 500, Chayce DeWitt set a PR in the 100 backstroke, and the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay teams both bested their times including a: 10-second drop by the 400 team.

Oskaloosa returns to action Tuesday, October 1 at Perry
