They got voted as the number one seed for the tournament so they had a first-round bye. They then played the doubles team of Sullinger and Thatcher from Chariton and beat them 6-3 6-1 to make it into the semifinal match.

The semifinal match was against Pella’s team of Carter Briggs and Vaughn Thompson.

This was a tough match, against a very good Pella team. I told the kids that The winner of this match goes to state and to just go out and play the way that they have this whole season!

We won the first set 6-3 then lost a close second set 7-6(8-6) in the tiebreaker. They got down 3-2 in the last set and then closed the match out by winning 4 straight games to win 6-3 and clinch there spot for state.

In the finals, they played the number 2 seeded team from Grinnell ( Jolly / Wilkins). They beat this team at the Pella tournament. However, Cade and Colton ran out of gas and were exhausted mentally and physically after there tough three-set matches against Pella.

They still played a competitive match but came up short losing 7-6(7-5) in the tiebreaker and 6-4 in the 2nd set. To be district runner ups.

This is a great accomplishment for Cade and Colton. They have really worked hard and deserved this. I am so proud of how they have developed as players and young adults.
