Osky Winter Open

The Mahaska County YMCA is excited to announce the 3rd Annual Osky Winter Open is scheduled for February 14 and 15 at Penn Central Mall. “It has been a cold winter and the planning committee is excited to bring the community a fun escape from the cold,” said Linda Crookham-Hansen, Event Chair.

This creative two-day event is geared for the whole community. The Y and its business partners have put together an enjoyable event where you can get out and socialize, join in fun competition, and burn off some extra energy.

The event will tee off with a noon golf tournament on Friday, February 14th. The tournament is limited to 36 two-person teams. The cost is $40 per team. Register by contacting the YMCA at 641-673-8411. Lunch and flighted prizes are provided. At 1:30, the course will be available for open golf ($5 per person or $20 per family), and the OES/YMCA after school program kids will take a field trip and play the course. Parents will pick up their children at the mall between 5:30-6:00 pm.

The course will then be closed for a Middle School Fun Night from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. and it is open to all middle school youth in the county. A student ID is required and the cost is $5. The Y will provide a shuttle from the OHS basketball game to the mall for the event. The Middle School Fun Night will include a mixture of opportunities including mini-putt, Wii games, bingo, bags, hula hoop contests and snowflake finds. “We looked for a wide range of activities that could be enjoyed by a wide range of students. We have a great event planned,” said Kristen Bandy, YMCA Board Member.

“The course will be open Saturday from 10 am through 7 pm, and tee-time reservations are not needed. Just come and have some family fun,” added Matt Sherlock.

Event proceeds will benefit the Mahaska YMCA efforts to enhance the Y with long overdue additions and updates. Event details, including cost and hours, are available on the Mahaska County YMCA website at www.mahaskaymca.org. For more information, contact the Mahaska County YMCA at 641.673.8411.
