Supervisors Formally Canvas Vote

OSKALOOSA – The Mahaska County Supervisors have formally signed off on the results of the November 3rd General Election. During the canvas of votes, County Auditor Sue Brown stated that a total of 11,458 votes cast, out of 15,228 registered voters.

“We have a 75.24% turnout, so that’s really, really good,” Brown said.
There were a total of 7,007 requests for absentee ballots this year. The previous record was 6,011.

“That far exceeded our previous record on absentee,” Brown added.
Brown added that she and her elections deputy had reviewed the reports from the polls from election night and reviewed the results from each precinct to ensure that they matched up.

County Supervisor-Elect Chuck Webb will be sworn in at the next regular meeting of the Mahaska County Supervisors, as he was running to fill a vacancy. Under Iowa election law, positions that are elected to fill a vacancy are sworn in at the first meeting after the formal canvas of votes.
