Steven Roger Lobberecht, age 69, of Eddyville, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Mahaska County Hospital, under hospice care, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Steve was born on December 19, 1948 at the Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Fred Eugene and Theola Patrcia (Maloy) Lobberecht.
Steven was raised in Eddyville and graduated from Eddyville High School, Class of 1967.
Steve was always working. He began working at the age of 14 years old pulling weeds in a tomato garden. He later worked at the Eddyville Lumber Yard before working at the DenHartog Meat Plant. In September of 1984, Steven began his employment at Riverside Auto Supply. He had a great knowledge of vehicles. Most of the time people could call him and he could provide an accurate diagnosis without seeing the vehicle.
Steve was united in marriage to Connie Van Arkel and to this union two children were born, Steven and Timothy. Their marriage later dissolved. Steve then married Sondra Mae McLoney on August 26, 1972. Steve and Sondra have been blessed with two children, Danny and Darrin and have shared over 45 years of marriage together. Together they raised their family in the Eddyville area.
Along with his knowledge of vehicles, he enjoyed collecting clocks and eagles. He would often be out tending to the garden or doing yard work. Steve’s greatest enjoyment was his family.
He was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and later a grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Those left to cherish Steve’s memory is his loving wife, Sondra Lobberecht of Eddyville; three sons: Steve Lobberecht of Knoxville, Danny Lobberecht of Eddyville, and Darrin (& Savannah) Lobberecht of Cedar; three sisters: Shirley (& Richard) Hynick of Eddyville, Patricia (& Russ) Schlotter of Eddyville, and Michelle Lobberecht of Oskaloosa; and three brothers: Frederick Lobberecht of Eddyville, Mike (& Lori) Lobberecht of Oskaloosa, and David (& Cassie) Lobberecht of New Sharon; , Sydney, Matthew, Eric, Logan, Spencer, and Brooklynn Lobberecht; and several nieces and nephews.
Steve is preceded in death by his son, Timothy Lee Lobberecht; parents, Fred and Theola Lobberecht; one brother, Gary Lobberecht; and two nephews, Michael and Kyler.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel. Steve’s family will be greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
A Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel.
Burial will follow services at Highland Cemetery in Eddyville.
