Stender Ends Career as All-American
Oskaloosa–Haydn Stender (Sr., Brigham City, Utah, Business Management & Accounting) closed out a brilliant tenure as a Statesmen football player by being named an AFCA NAIA Coaches’ All-American as the teams were announced Thursday.
Stender collected an Honorable Mention, the first of his career. He becomes the 43rd All-American in William Penn gridiron history. It also marks the third-straight year in which WPU has had an individual achieve the highest status.
The senior offensive lineman guided the navy and gold in becoming the top rushing offense in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, averaging 272.4 yards per game on the ground. Overall, the Statesmen tallied 20.3 points and 329.7 yards per outing.
Stender was a first-team all-Heart pick, garnering a league laurel for the third time (second time on the first squad) in his career.
